growth gravity

Installation view, Growth Gravity, 2010, video and archival pigment prints, Oakland University Art Gallery, January7–February 20, 2011

Growth Gravity situates the process of human aging within the natural cycles of decay and regeneration. A time-lapse video shows me as I lay in the same spot in my backyard as the dormant grass begins to grow over a seven month period, ultimately obscuring my face from view. Two other videos shows a repeated view of clouds from above, and the vantage point of looking up at the same sky from below while time passes, grass grows and seasons change.
